Inverness Caley Thistle 1-2 Saints

Our record against Caley Thistle has been poor for years. We've beaten them just three times, and only once at their own ground. Hopefully, that jinx has now been broken.

Saints went with a 3-5-2 formation, with Garry Brady handed a start in midfield. Surprisingly, Chris Smith was chosen over Tony Bullock and Craig Molloy was chosen in midfield.

After an even first half, Caley Thistle took the lead a few minutes after the break when former Saints signing target crossed for Craig Dargo to score.

However, the lead lasted just seven minutes. A Molloy shot was parried by Mark Brown, but the rebound was scored by Stewart Kean or John Sutton. It was given to Sutton, however Kean is claiming it! In the aftermath Sutton was booked for over celebrating, and some Saints fans invaded the pitch with delight.

If that goal had made them happy, they were on cloud nine twenty minutes later when some poor Caley Thistle defending allowed Sutton to score Saints second of the afternoon and complete the comeback.

Saints defended well for the rest of the game and clinched just their second win in Inverness. Last time we were in the SPL, it took us until the fourth game to get a win and we only had four points after nine games. We also managed just one away win all season!

Now, I wonder if all those who confidently predicted relegation for Saints are quite so sure of themselves now?
