Inverness Caley Thistle 2-2 Saints

Twice we led and twice we were pegged back but, considering we were without a number of players through injuries and suspensions. Even with a full strength side I'd have taken a point from Inverness considering how well they're going so this is a decent draw.

Well all knew that we would be without Jim Goodwin and Marc McAusland through injury but Kenny McLean and Paul Dummett being out through injury was slightly more of a surprise. Lee Mair and David van Zanten came into defence, while Graham Carey and Imrie also started. Lews Guy was left on the bench and there was a welcome return to the side for Paul McGowan, missing for several months through injury.

The make shift performed well early doors and within two minutes were in front, Imrie cracking one in from 20 yards for our earliest goal of the season. Carey cracked the bar with a free-kick but before the break the hosts were level as Andrew Shinnie scored a cracker.

We had chances to go back in front before the break but had to wait until 10 minutes into the second half for the second as Thompson headed in another Gary Teale cross. However, Caley Thistle were level midway through the second half when Aaron Doran's shot was parried by Craig Samson and Richie Foran headed in the rebound.

Terry Butcher's men had chances to win it, Samson making some fine saves, but when Guy replaced McGowan he had an entertaining end to the game - scoring two offside goals and hitting the woodwork twice. He couldn't find a winner and neither could Inverness so we make the long return home with a point.

A decent result in the circumstances and hopefully we have a few players back for Saturday's game at Dundee United.
