The SPL table has a rather pleasing look to Saints fans as we head into the international break. We lie in seventh, with four points and three goals to our name - three points and two goals better than this time last season. With three teams yet to get off the mark (although Hearts have still to play this weekend) it's a good start to the new campaign.
As expected, Hugh Murray came into the side but it was Tom Brghton he replaced, meaning there were no natural wingers in the team. Most people of a black and white persuasion, John Potter in particular, would have been delighted to see Kevin Kyle's name missing from the Kilmarnock team sheet, but it was another shaven headed striker that opened the scoring when Conor Sammon struck after just four minutes.
Killie failed to extend their lead in the first half and just after the break McGinn bagged his second of the season when he scored from 10 yards. The third - meaning this is already his most prolific season for the club - came 20 minutes later from the edge of the box to give us a vital three points.
Always good to get that first league win out of the way, now let's follow it up by finally breaking our home duck when the Fake Saints come to St. Mirren Park in a fortnight.
