Kilmarnock 2-1 Saints

Last updated : 11 September 2010 By Stuart Gillespie

After a decent start to his Saints managerial career, everyone was looking forward to seeing what Danny Lennon would do now he had some games against sides that will be round about us in the table. Sadly, an important September got off to a bad start.

There was just one change to the side that beat Hibs, the fit again Steven Thomson taking over from the injured Craig Dargo. McGowan moved up front as we stuck with 3-5-2.

The rest of this will be brief as I wasn't there. It seems the first half was pretty disappointing and Kilmarnock were all over us, eventually scoring through James Dayton from about 30 yards.

Having got to the interval only a goal down, we then drew level thanks to a goal from Thomson just minutes after the restart. The chance was there to go on and win the game, but eight minutes later a superb free-kick from debutant Alexei Eremenko had Killie back in front.

Soon after, McGowan was sent off after a tackle on Dayton - although it seems it was for swearing rather than for the challenge. Sub Sean Lynch and Gareth Wardlaw both had chances to snatch an equaliser, but Killie managed to take all three points.

Not a great day at the office and we have to end this poor run of away form when we go to Perth next week.
