This is an absolutely massive result for us. After the doom and gloom of the last few months, culminating in Sunday's shocker against Hibs, we desperately needed to get a decent result tonight. Thankfully, we did. There's still a long, long way to go but there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Let's just hope we're not approaching another false dawn.
Michael Higdon wasn't fit enough to start due to injury, so he was replaced by David van Zanten. A rather odd decision but, as I wasn't there, I can only assume we went with a 3-5-2.
Both sides had chances - us more than usual - before Higdon arrived in Danny Lennon's usual 80th minute, like for like change. Craig Dargo was the man making way this time.
But for once, the change worked. Just two minutes after he came on the big Englishman hit a shot that deflected off a divot on the Fir Park pitch that deceived keeper Darren Randolph before nestling in the net.
That no doubt increased the tension for the Saints fans watching and listening given our inability to hold a lead, but for once we did and clinched a vital three points.
Apologies for the short report, I wasn't at the game but the important thing tonight is the result.
