Apologies for the lateness of getting this online - I was out last night and was only able to see the first half (on some guy's iPhone!) so this will be pretty brief.
Saints surprisingly stuck with the 3-5-2 formation despite the game being at Ibrox, the only change being Chris Innes replacing the injured Steven Robb. From what I saw of the first half it was relatively dull, Steven Davis having the only real chance when he fired a long range effort just off target.
In the second half things got a bit more exciting, Boyd having a goal disallowed and Billy Mehmet twice going close to putting us in front. Worryingly, Jack Ross then went off with a serious looking injury and will need to get an X-ray.
It looked as if we'd force extra time but, with four minutes left, Steven Smith launched a ball into the box and Boyd somehow managed to get himself in front of the defence to pop it past Paul Gallacher.
It was heartbreaking but over two games against Rangers we'd competed well, which bodes well for the cup final. The only worries are conceding a late goal again and the injury to Ross.
