An excellent result for us, not such a good one for Rangers - but who cares about them?
Saints went with just Mark Corcoran up front in a 4-5-1 formation, with Tony Bullock, Ian Maxwell and Alan Reid all coming into the starting eleven - perhaps a bit unfair on Chris Smith, who did well last weekend.
Brittain opened his Saints account after just thirteen minutes, firing home a Corcoran cut back from the edge of the box. Sadly, the lead didn't last too long, Kris Boyd heading home a Charlie Adam (there's a surprise) corner just six minutes later
Both teams had chances to score, but all were wasted, leaving Saints by far the happier of the two sides. However, there was some bad news; Hugh Murray has a suspected fractured cheek bone and could be out for a while, and it seems Simon Lappin may have concussion.
Still, let's not worry too much. This was a great way to end 2006 and far better than our last trip to Ibrox. Roll on Inverness on Monday!
Due to the closeness of the Inverness game, there will be no man of the match poll for the Rangers match.
