Almost exactly a year ago we went to Ibrox, played one up front and were behind after a few minutes. We bettered that achievement today by going behind after a few seconds!
As expected, Billy Mehmet was deployed on his own up front and, as per usual, the tactic was ruined by conceding an early goal. After just 17 seconds Paul Gallacher palmed away John Fleck's shot, but unfortunately Kris Boyd knocked in the rebound.
Saints did rally a bit with Andy Dorman going close and Garry Brady (not good enough for home games but ideal for away games against the Old Firm apparently) hitting the woodwork when he looked like he'd scored.
In between times Gallacher was keeping out what was thrown at him, but as the hour mark approached Nacho Novo squared the ball for Boyd to tap home.
That should have been that but, as with our last trip to Ibrox, a late goal made things interesting. This time it was Stephen O'Donnell scoring it with a few minutes left, but sadly we didn't go on to get an equaliser.
Most folk didn't expect anything today but we nearly always lose an early goal when we go with a lone striker, which ruins the whole game plan. To make things worse, we once again went with just six subs and Stephen McGinn got injured.
Thank goodness there's an international break coming up.
