Ross County 3-3 Saints (Ross County win 4-3 on penalties)

Cup exits to lower league sides happened a fair bit under Gus MacPherson and now Danny Lennon has managed to follow suit. We went ahead twice but still couldn't see things out, so had to rely on the lottery of penalties - and lost.

There were three changes to the side that lost to Celtic at the weekend, with Michael Higdon and Paul McGowan coming in for Garry Brady and Steven Robb, while Marc McAusland replaced David van Zanten at the back.

Saints took the lead at the end of the first half thanks to a Darren McGregor header, but after the break things looked bleak when Michael Gardyne equalised and former Saint Richard Brittain scored a free-kick with 14 minutes left. However, almost immediately Higdon scored to force the extra half hour.

It started well with McGowan heading us in front but County sub Steven Craig equalised. That brought about penalties and misses from Lee Mair and John Potter (god knows why they were taking penalties) sent us out.

Wasn't there so no point saying much more than that, but no doubt the messageboards will go into overdrive after this result.
