Saints 1-0 Falkirk

It wasn't pretty and there were very few moments of real quality - but as it's the end of the season we can use that excuse instead of pointing out it's been the norm this season. Falkirk had a few nice touches, we had a couple of decent efforts, while the referee made some odd decisions and sent off a Falkirk player. Just a normal game then!

There were changes to the team, with Stephen McGinn and Jim Hamilton replacing Garry Brady and Ian Maxwell in a rather attacking line-up - risky considering what Falkirk have done to us in the past. In a dull first half, Michael Higdon had
Falkirk;s best chances when he broiught a decent save from Mark Howard before heading a corner wide. We threatened with a tame Billy Mehmet shot and a Jim Hamilton blockbuster just before half time that cracked the bar.

Things improved for the second half. Dorman just failed to connect with
Hamilton's cross before Carl Finnigan wasted a great chance for Falkirk after getting the better of Will Haining. The exciting adventures of Craig Dargo then took centre stage.

First, him and McGinn got in each other's way at the back post when trying to get on Dorman's cross. Then, he was flattened by Gerard Aafjes - who had already had a run in with Hamilton - when about to go clean through. To sum it up, when
Hamilton played a good ball across goal he missed. From three yards. With the goal gaping.

The
Falkirk fans may have been laughing, but they weren't shortly after. Dorman and Arnau Riera had a clash and the latter was sent off. It was high and there may have been an elbow used, but when neither manager thinks a red card is merited you have to wonder if the right decision was made.

That happened with about 15 minutes left and five minutes later Saints made their advantage count. David Barron used his left foot - usually used just for standing in - to float in a decent cross that
Hamilton flicked on and Dorman thundered past Shayne Supple for a superb goal.

That was that - although not before Dargo somehow escaped with a yellow for clattering Aajfes. Quite how the Falkirk player hadn't been booked by this point is anyone's guess - although the referee seemed more than happy to caution our players while letting Falkirk ones off with similar offences.

The result moves us up to tenth and we can still catch Inverness Caley Thistle - can you feel the excitement yet?
