I wrote yesterday that we needed a win, not just to put Tuesday's disaster behind us but also to ensure we didn't waste a good start. Well, we did just that and still sit in sixth - a handy seven points above bottom placed Inverness Caley Thistle.
I also said we needed to make some changes and we did. Jon McShane and Graham Carey were handed starts, while Gary Teale and Steven Thomson dropped to the bench. Given his recent performances McLean was perhaps lucky to keep his place, but it was a good move.
Craig Samson was needed to deny Cillian Sheridan and Fran Sandaza a couple of times, while McLean was kept out by Peter Enckelman twice. However, with 10 minutes left it seemed the passing football was ditched as Thompson knocked the ball down for McLean, who took a touch and lashed it home for the game's only a goal.
A great result, especially when you consider the Saintees are fourth, and with two home games coming up we must build on it and get some more points on the board.
