It means we go into the international break on the back of a defeat - not the best news considering we have Celtic and Dundee United after the gap.
As expected Sam Parkin and Kenny McLean both started after their goalscoring sub appearances last week, with Dougie Imrie and Jon Robertson the men dropped. Surprisingly, this meant we were starting Parkin, Steven Thompson and Lewis Guy - an adventurous formation at the best of times, let alone away from home at an in form team.
Nigel Hasselbaink spent the week telling people he'd joined the bigger saints and typically it was him that opened the scoring midway through the first half, collecting a pass from Murray Davidson to slot home.
Just before the break the Saintees doubled their lead when Mark Miller's shot was parried by Craig Samson and Davidson netted the rebound.
A quick Buddies response was needed after the break, with Imrie replacing Parkin, and the change worked as Guy quickly halved the deficit. However, that was as close as we'd get, although a last minute penalty appeal was turned down after Robertson appeared to be flattened by Tam Scobbie.
