Fulfilled a life-long dream by signing for his boyhood heroes in 2011. Steven had been linked with us every transfer window for about five years, so the fans were delighted when he finally joined after leaving Burnley. The former Scotland cap was at the 1987 cup final and started his career against Dundee United, scoring against us at Love Street. In 2003 he moved to Rangers, helping them to the league that season and in 205 before he moved to Cardiff City. He wasn't prolific, but then picked up an injury after he fell off a banana boat. He'd already been placed on the transfer list by then and didn't help himself by slagging off Cardiff boss Dave Jones in a newspaper interview - although as I don't like Jones I don't see the problem! In 2008 he played for Cardiff in the FA Cup Final - which they lost - before moving to Burnley a few months later. That proved a good move as they won the play-offs. While they were relegated a year later, he hit four goals in the last six games of the season. A move to Saints looked possible in January 2011, but a change of manager delayed it until six months later. Lived the dream of every Saints fan by scoring a double against Morton and a last minute equaliser. At first it almost seemed as if he was trying to hard but something clicked towards the end of 2011 and he didn't look back. He hit 16 goals - including a hat-trick, and continued that form into the following season, conjuring up a terrific last minute winner against Ross County. He topped that with a terrific winner in the League Cup semi-final victory over Celtic before scoring the second in the win in the final over Hearts to secure his place as a club legend. He is contracted until 2014 but will be awarded an extra year if he makes a certain number of appearances.
